I took this picture when i was in CT at my cousins house. It was in my aunts garden in the front. I took it because it shows the different shades in the peddles by the way the light hits it. I also, think the background makes it pop out.

I like the color of the flower, and you are right that the background makes it pop. One suggestion would be to remove the green leaf that is covering the flower. It could be distracting. Besides that, great photo!
I like the complimentary colors and the light reflecting off the flower. But the leave's on the bottom right corner seem more in focus then the flower.
