This is a picture I took last week. I like the focus on the ant. I also like how the lines in the picture lead your eyes to the ant. Next time, I would try to zoom in closer on the ant in order to see more details.
This was taken outdoors without flash.

I think it is a good picture overall, this picture is in clear focus, and I like the light in this picture.
I like that the photograph has good flow. Also the leaves in the background add warmth to the cool color of what the ant is on. I agree that if you had moved in closer and got rid of some of the negative space it would've been better.
I like how the ant is in focus, leaving the background blurry. I also agree with you that the photo has some flow, but it stops near the middle. I would have zoomed in more, as you said, and included more of the fence to elongate the flow.
I like this picture because the metarial detail is nice and nothing wash out. if there is no free space, it will be more nice picture
