I really like these pictures because of the angle and the subject. The black and white version makes the animal seem like it is out of water, rather than in a tank. I think out of the two photographs, the black and white conversion was a good choice.
i think the color version of this photo is more interesting. the contrast between the blue water and the brown rocks is lost when its converted to black and white.
the colors in the first are more compelling wheras the black and white just dullened the photo and made it harder to see what it was we are looking at---plus the black and whit made it look less sharp
