I really like your pictures, because everyone in the pictures seem really happy, and as if they are enjoying their lives, and the moment.
Emily - Portraits should capture images of people and other beings showing forsight. Try to 'show' that forsight in your images and stay away from impromtu candids that look more snapshot-ish. The group image shows the most forsight and lighting DOES add to the level of interest in the image.
