I took this picture at my track meet. I like the flow of the track and how it feels like the guys are running right at you. This was taken on action setting on my canon rebel.

This photo has a lot of movement in it which helps create the feeling, as you said, that the guys are running towards you. I would have moved up the camera a little bit, though.
this is excellent. the empty track space in the front adds a lot of flow. The front runner is a little blurry, though, which is frustrating. a faster shutter speed might have eliminated that.
