Lanefski_LightedTree

I took this picture with the Macro setting on a Nikon D3200. I like this picture because of the vibrancy in the lights, and the contrast against the trees dark green color. I wish there were a different background though, the curtain is distracting.

I like how clearly the tree, and especially the lights, are in focus. I do agree that a simpler background would have been less distracting. I also think the dark green of the tree blends in with the dark background on the left a little too much. Maybe adding just a little more light on the tree itself would make it appear brighter and greener so it would stand out from the background without losing the contrast with the lights that you love.

I know you tried to focus mostly on Christmas tree lights. I like the picture: since it was taken in darkness, unnecessary objects are covered, and the main object is emphasized. However, you remind the color of the tree is dark green in this picture, a fact that means you tried to put the tree as an object too. So, it would be better if you add extra lights in the room so that the green tree can appear its own real color.
