This is the picture of counter in a hotel. I like this picture because the focusing on this picture is quite crisp. If I have to add one more fact why I like this picture, I would say the tone of it. I believe the amount of light is quite proper and well-balanced. There is one fact I don't like about this picture: I do not like the angle where I took this picture from. It would be better if I took this photo from left side of the lamp.

I do agree that the best part of the photo is the crisp clear focus. However, the composition could be improved. I'm not quite sure what the the subject is supposed to be. If it's the lamp, then the top should not be cut off. Both sides of the background should either be simpler or out of focus. I find myself getting distracted by the light switches on the wall.
It could have been significantly improved even if you had simply cropped out the light switches on the left and up to the edge of the plain wall on the right.
I totally agree on what you said. Even as a photographer of this picture, I'm not sure what the subject is supposed to be. I should have let the lamp the left or right edge on the picture.
