Bache_Elizabeth in Set Design
I took both of these images during photography class on Friday. Both were taken on the vibrant color setting, the first image was taken at an ISO speed of 800, the second at 640. I think the top image is a better image for a photography image, because of the variety in color and minimal distraction. However, I like the second image better as a portrait image because of its focus and the angle of Liz's face. Also how her face is outlined by the background lighting. However, the distractions take away from this portrait image, including the two lights at the top, Vals hand behind Liz, and the fact that you cant see Liz's paintbrush. If these distractions weren't included the second image may be a better photography image.
Fair_Charm
I took this photo in room 44 near the window sill. It was taken during photography class and there was a lot of light coming in from the outside. I used a Sony Bloggie camera I like this photo becasuse of the way the L charm is in focus. I also like how everything in the photo is a different shade of grey.
Cha_Franklin Olin
Nowadays, I'm trying to take good pictures at night since at night, you will know that the distracting objects are disappear by darkness, and the picture can focus on the only object i want to take (especially the object with lights itself). Sometimes, compare to the picture took in the morning, the pictures took at night have more romantic aura. This is the picture I took in Franklin Olin & Babson College. As you can see, there is my friend stands in front of the object. You will notice, the distance between him and the building is quite far, and the distance between him and camera either. Because of the delicate lights (yellowish streetlights), the mood in this picture is warm even though it is cold outside. In addition, we can see my friends properly. Since this is the picture that taken without light, the shutter speed should be delayed and I need a place to put my camera so that the camera will not shake while the camera take this picture.
Brossi_Swing
I took this photo Sunday morning at around 8:30. It was sunny out but the porch was shaded, causing the shadows behind the swing. I used natural light. I like how there are so many different lines in this photo and how some are vertical and some are horizontal, giving it a more interesting look. I wish the swing wasn't in the dark as much as it is, but this photo without the flash came out better than the one when I used flash.

Duchaney_Christmas Shoes
I photographed my formal shoes and their matching purses with my Canon PowerShot SX110IS on indoor setting using only available light from the lamps in my family room and the white Christmas lights on the tree. I put them under the Christmas tree because the red tree skirt provided a good color for a background. I liked how the more neutral colors contrasted with the more vibrant red. I also included some of the branches to incorporate a Christmas theme, as I figured someone trying to sell the shoes and purses at this time of year would. I like how the metalic silver and gold matches the Christmas theme. The edited version crops out most of the wall at the top left corner and makes the colors warmer, as I intended the light to appear.
Garner_Exploding Glitter
I took this photograph for the ABC By The Letters Project. It is glitter dumped out on a sheet of canvas with my fingers run through it. I rested my camera on the glitter and focused on the middle ground of the picture. I used my canon rebel on the close up setting. I used a desk lamp angled in the direction of the glitter to cast light on it. This photograph is one of my favorites I have taken this year because of the used of depth.

Palencia_Flower
I used this photograph for my marian by the letter project. For thanksgiving my mom decorated the house with a few of these. I really like this picture because the vase and flower is well focused and the sun allows the little hairs on the flower to show up. I also like that you can see part of the flower in the water but the top half outside. If I would've noticed earlier I would have cleaned the vase because some the hand print are a bit distracting.

Cha_Riverside
This is the picture that I took at Riverside station. To take the picture without flash, I have to hold the camera at least more than 3 secs to gather the light since it was night which lacks light. Because I could not hold the heavy camera for more than 3 secs without any move, I placed the camera on the stairways and pushed the shutter button (aperture: F22). I like the picture because without any flashing light, the picture has quite clear brightness, and I like the light trace of cars. Luckily, there is no blurring; but I don't like the shape of branches of streetlights, which were supposed to be one exact line for each branch of light. Furthermore, there are the ghost effect (the red and white dots) which distract attention.

Dilbarian_ White Rose
I really like this picture because of how focused it is and because of the depth of feild. if i could take this picture again, i would eliminate the negative space.

Flavia_Silouhette
I took this photo at a window in Marian Hight School. Karen is the model in the photo. I really like this picture because it it a silouhette type of photo. Some thing that I would do to fix would be to clean the window because it is a little bit smudgy. Also part of Karen's leg and arm is not a silouhette because you can see some details and color.
Lanefski_PinkFlower
I took this photograph with a Canon Rebel xS. I took this in natural light with the Close up setting, ISO 100. I like this photograph because it shows the detail on the flower and the surrounding flowers complement the pink color.

Fair_Plant
I took this photo of a plant that is in Marian library. I liked the color and shininess of the leaf and how detailed it was. If I could retake this photo I would eliminate the negative space in the bottom right hand corner. I took this with a Sony Bloggie with no flash. The lights in the library were on as well as light shining in from the windows.
MacDougall_SchoolBus
I took this photo a few weeks ago for the Let Me Tell You About _____ project. This was taken around 11am outside of the school, but it wasn't very bright out that day. I like the angle and the depth of field of this photo. I also like the reflections in the paint and the glass.
Brossi_Turtle
i took this picture sunday afternoon of the turtle i painted at plaster fun time. the lights in the room were on and i used flash.
Condon_Bus
This is one of the pictures that I used for the color assignment. It is one of the Marian buses near the back of the school and I took this one day after school in the afternoon. I really like how the M looks so large and then the letters following it look smaller and smaller.
McGrath_Nail Polishes
I took this picture a few weeks ago in my living room. Someone had life a few of the nail polishes out, and I thought it would work well for the color project. Although I didn't use the photo for that assignment, I still really like this picture. I used only the light from the near by lamp and no flash.
Cha_Green Line
I took this picture from Copley station when I was waiting for outbound Green Line toward Riverside. I took this picture in the mode, Black and White. The effect seems to make the picture more exotic. I like this picture most of all beside the fact that reflection on the sign board blurred the word, "Green."
Garner_Snowboarding Without Snow
I took this picture yesterday when my brother decided to practice snowboard tricks in our backyard. I took it mid day, with him facing the sun. Using the sports setting to get a faster shutter speed I was able to capture him mid air.
Bubello_Dog
I took this photo in my house without flash. I really like this photo because of the silhouette of my dog's face and that you can't see the details of his face. I really like how the lighting in this photo caused that kind of affect.
Namubiru_Nail Polish
i took this picture with no flash, only indirect sunlight. what i like mmost about the picture is the color blue of the nail polish. the first picture was cropped into the second one so that the background wouldn't be so distracting.
Bache_Eggs
I took this photo in my kitchen when I was helping my mom put the groceries away. I was about to put the eggs in the fridge but when the sun hit them through the window I thought it would make for a good picture. I like the shadows and the different shades of the eggs. One thing I wish that was different would be to have the center white egg not be as over exposed as it is in the image.
Duchaney_Miniature Buildings
I took this with my Canon PowerShot SX110IS on macro setting using only available light coming in from the window. This is my mom's little collection of little landmarks that we've visited: Mount Vernon, Giverny, Monticello, a Martha's Vineyard gingerbread house, and the Nubble Lighthouse. At first I was disappointed that I could not give the photo a white background without losing the dramatic shadows, but then I grew to like the backdrop of the trees outside my window. The fact that there are no leaves makes the white surface resemble snow. The photo is a little bright on the right next to Mount Vernon, and I would have liked to have been able to show a little more detail of the miniatures in the back, but I do like the depth that the blurriness shows.
