Bache_Snow

I took this photo outside Marian High. It is a photo of the marian outdoor trash cans. There was a pile of snow stacking up on the sides of the trash barrel. I took it facing directly down and had my camera set on the macro setting to get crisp focus of the closer up view of the subject.

Dilbarian_ dead flowers

This is a photo that I took in my room of a rose that had died.  I like this picture because of the angle.  Since the flower is dead, and drooping, I had to take the picture underneath it and looking up.  I love how clear and focused the photo is.  I also like how you can see the veins and and the brown and dead edges of the flower.  The one thing I don't like about the picture is the background.  i wish i could have gotten more leaves to fill the overexposed, negative space in the bottom left and aroud the top.   

Garner_Optical Illusion

I took this picture with my canon rebel. It was set on automatic with no flash. I like this photo because it seems like an optical illusion. It technically is a picture of the ceiling in the fourth floor stair case but it looks like your looking down at the ground. 

Flavia_Waterfall Too

This is a photo of the same waterfall just at a slightly different angle. I like this photo because of the reflections of the sun and how you can see more of the ice in the waterfall. Also the moving water is not blurry. The only thing that is really distracting is the branch right in front of the photo. I could not really do anything about the branch because the bridge was straight so I could not move away from the branch, which disappointed me.

Flavia_Waterfall

I took this photo today of the Charles River waterfall in Newton-Wellesley. I really like the angle to took the photo because usually you are looking at the waterfall from faraway and straight. I was on a bridge over the waterfall which made the angle different. In the photo I like how there is a sharp reflection of the sun. I also like how the water splashing is not as blurry as moving things are usually while taking photos. 

Duchaney_Quarters

I took this with my Canon PowerShot SX110IS on macro setting. I chose to put the Connecticut quarter on top because I really liked the intricate detail of the tree's branches. I wish the whole top of the qurter was in the clear focus rather than just the bottom half. I also think the shine was a little bright towards the top left.

MacDougall_Plant

I took this photo a few weeks ago for the Styles Project. This is a plant in my kitchen window. I used the available light from the window and I believe this was taken in mid-to-late afternoon. I really like the bottom photo because I like all of the values. I think that the colors in the top photo are too dull so I think that the values from the black and white photo show the shadows much better. I also like the light on the right side and how the rays from the glare are visible. It makes it a lot more intriguing to look at. Especially since the leaves are slightly transparent and you can see the other leaves and petals behind it.

McGrath_Cross

I took this picture of the corner stone of Marian's convent a few weeks ago. It wasn't too sunny out, but I think that the picture looks better in lighting than it would have on a sunny day. I like that there are branches running over the bricks because it makes the picture more interesting. At first I only took a picture of the brick that read "1956", but I realized capturing the bricks at an angle would make it a much better picture.

Condon_Candle

I took this picture last night at a restaurant in Boston. It was a very dark room with just one candle on each table. I like this picture because the only light is the candle. Also, there are nice details in the candle wax & there is a nice reflection from the candle on the back of the jar. I took this with no flash.

Fair_Portrait

This is a portrait of Emily that I used for the Portraits 123 assignment. I really like this photo because of her expression. At the time this photo was taken it was windy and it caused her hair to move. I like the movement it created and I think it made the photo more interesting. I think that making this portrait black and white made it look more mysterious. Unfortunately, I do not have the original color photo saved.

Bubello_TennisBall

I took this photo in my backyard without flash and using the macro setting. I really liked this photo because of the detail of the tennis ball. I also liked the depth of field in this photo. The ball is very clear in focus and the snow is slightly out of focus. I also enjoyed the contrast between the yellow of the ball and the white of the snow that really allows for the tennis ball to jump out.

I took this picture with a Nikon D3200. I like this photogrpah because there are multiple shades of brown. I like how there is a lot of focus and detail on the leather and the metal. I also like how the focus on the strap fades as the strap goes down.

MacDougall_Portrait

I took this photo a few weeks ago for our Portraits project. This was taken in the school in the hallway of the front enterance. The only light used was the available light coming from the front doors and windows; it was a very sunny day. Since it was so bright, though, I think that their faces are a little flat looking because of the excessive light. But I love how all of their eyes stand out from the brightness. Probably the only thing that I would change would be that I would have moved a little farther back when I took this photo because part of Amanda's face and some of Claudia's hair got cut off a bit.

Duchaney_Track Runners

 

I took this with my Canon PowerShot SX110IS on ISO 3200. This is a good example of a challenge that I have always had with my camera. Whenever I take photos at track meets, with fast action and indoor light, I alway face this problem. On any other setting besides ISO 3200, the photos are very blurry, but whenever I do use it, they come out unclear and sort of grainy. If the quality was not so poor, I would think this is a very good action photo. I like how the runners are at different intervals in the foreground, middleground, and background, showing depth in the composition. I also like how the Marian runners are in the front and in brighter colors, making them stand out in contrst to the the other team. I wish I hadn't cut off Cam's shoe, and the lights are a little distracting.

I took this picture outside of Marian by the garage. I use it for my portraits 1,2,3 project. I like that Jack isn't in the center of the photo because, I think it looks more interesting than a typical portrait. There was someone standing next to him at the time the picture was taken. You can see their shadow in the right hand corner. I wish I had noticed this earlier.

I took this picture for the portrait project. This was taken in the main entrance at school, using available light. My camera was set on the portrait setting which allowed me to keep Lea's whole face in focus. I love the way her entire face is well lit and you are able to see all of the details in her face. I also like the way I framed Lea, I was able to cut out the distracting pieces of the door way out and just focus on her.

I like how in this photo the bright light in the background gives a clear outline of the person in the photo. I also like how almost all the lines in the photo are parallel to each other

I took this picture with a Nikon C3200 in Portrait setting with a flash and a light on the side. I like the solid blue background and the way it stands out. I like the shadow on the side of him from the light on the side. I don't like how the top of the hat is cut off.

Cha_Motocycle

I took this picture while I was sitting on a passenger seat. Luckily, the day was brilliant to take this picture; superb amount of lights, and clear. It feels amazing when I take picture of moving objects. The shutter speed was 1/8000; in addition, since I also was moving in the same direction and about same speed, it was easier to take a picture of this object rather then just stand in one spot and take picture of moving object. The fault of this picture is, since it was taken so fast, I cannot find any blurring trace that makes the picture more dynamic.

Dilbarian_ Sadie

I took this picture of my dog about 2 weeks ago when there was still a lot of snow on the ground.  I took it about mid day.  I like this photo because of the way she is jumping up towards the camera.  I also like how clear her face is.  I like the depth of field; it focus in towards her face and travels down the picture.  lastly, I like the way her ears are pushed back as she is jumping up.

Condon_Pencils

This is a picture I took during class last week. I was in the art room, looking for still life to take photos of. I saw the multi-colored pencils and thought it would be a good shot. I layed them out on the table and thought it was an interesting angle. The only thing I dislike is that the red and orange pencils are out of focus and the scratches on the table are a bit distracting. But overall, I think this is an okay photo.

Flavia_Megan's Bracelets

I took this photo during my study of Megan's bracelets. I used super macrophotography and the light is from the sun coming through the windows. I really like this photo because of how detailed the crystal and the "M" charm are. Something that I would like that I could change would be to make the juicy couture writing part less blurry.
