I took this photo about a month ago for the 4 Letters Assignment. I took it off a Christmas tree someone put outside on my street. I liked this because I thought the tree looked interesting at this angle. I also thought the the greens in the leaves looked nice against the gray branches and white snow.

Fair_Ticket

One of my brothers graduated from college this weekend. This is a picture of one of the tickets. I like this photo because the paper is in focus and you can clearly see the words, and in some places, details in the paper. In addition, I think the white paper looks nice against the antique chest/wood. I also think there is good depth of field.

Palencia_Mary

I took this photograph at a church In Washington D.C.  I used the available light from the church, it was about 830 am and cloudy so there wasn't a lot of light from the windows. I like this photograph because of the two shadows of the virgin Mary.  I also like that the main focus is the statue of Mary, although there are candles below her and stain glass windows above her I don't think they are distracting.

I took these pictures of my moms pansies that were up against the window. I took this using the light that was coming in through the window and the overhead light from the lamps.

Condon_Erin

This is a picture of my sister Erin. I used this photo in my Portraits 1,2,3 project and in my portfolio. I took this picture a few weeks ago when it was snowing outside. I think I only used the light from outside, natural light, for this photo. I like how she is smiling and the colors on her scarf and hat make the photo more interesting.

I took this photograph with a Nikon D3200 with the macro setting. I really like the fine details and the black against white. I think it could have been a little clearer.

Bubello_Flower

I took this photo using the macro setting on my camera without flash. I really liked this photo because the flower is at the center of the photo and there is no distracting background. I really liked how the pink popped out of the photo and I also really liked the depth of field in this photo. A few of the petals in the middle are a little distracting, but overall I really like this photo.

Garner_Old Fashion

I love this picture as well as this camera. I think the angle I took this at is the normal angle some one would take it. I was able to sharpen the picture. I like the way the coiled body of the camera fades into the distance of the black container. I like the shadows as well as the sleek lines. 

Garner_Camera Fun

The top picture is the original. I took is with my Canon Rebel on the "no flash" setting. I put the lens on manual focus. I took my film camera and placed it on my mom's craft table, which provided the bright white base. I took white canvas boards and placed then behind to cover up the brown wall behind. The one thing I noticed after I took the picture was that the canvas boards created seems in the background.  

Once I began editing, I first changed the photograph to black and white. Next I changed the brightness, contrast, shadows and the highlights. After that I changed the color temperature, the tint, and the saturation. I was able to blur the lines out and make the lens more of a focal point. I love the way the light hit the lens to give high lights to the outer rims of it. I surprised myself on this one.   

Brossi_Pens

I took this picture of my homework. I liked how the colors went together and the layout of the pens and the notebooks.  I think the different horizontal and vertical lines throughout this picture really make the photo more interesting. It is also taken at an angle where you wouldn't normally look at a notebook.  This was taken with overhead light and no flash.

I took this picture over break when there was some snow outside which is why outside there is a lot of white light coming through. I took this picture with the macro setting so that I could be really close to the object and have most of the picture in focus. For example, I like how you can see the blades on the shade and little details in the cord.  

Palencia_ Socks

I took this picture in my room during Christmas vacation. I was babysitting a 6 year old girl who takes ballet classes. She let me take a few pictures of her, I also used the available light that came from the window. I like this picture because you can see the dress she is wearing and the polka dot socks. I also like the way her feet look, they seem to be in good formation, I originally took this picture in black and white.

I took this photograph on the no-flash setting with a Nikon D3200. I like this photograph because you can see the details on the shell and on the old leather on the couch. I like the shadow also. I cropped the picture because there was a distracting corner of dark brown in the upper left corner.

I took this photo outside Marian High. It is a photo of the marian outdoor trash cans. There was a pile of snow stacking up on the sides of the trash barrel. I took it facing directly down and had my camera set on the macro setting to get crisp focus of the closer up view of the subject.

Dilbarian_ dead flowers

This is a photo that I took in my room of a rose that had died.  I like this picture because of the angle.  Since the flower is dead, and drooping, I had to take the picture underneath it and looking up.  I love how clear and focused the photo is.  I also like how you can see the veins and and the brown and dead edges of the flower.  The one thing I don't like about the picture is the background.  i wish i could have gotten more leaves to fill the overexposed, negative space in the bottom left and aroud the top.   

Garner_Optical Illusion

I took this picture with my canon rebel. It was set on automatic with no flash. I like this photo because it seems like an optical illusion. It technically is a picture of the ceiling in the fourth floor stair case but it looks like your looking down at the ground. 

Flavia_Waterfall Too

This is a photo of the same waterfall just at a slightly different angle. I like this photo because of the reflections of the sun and how you can see more of the ice in the waterfall. Also the moving water is not blurry. The only thing that is really distracting is the branch right in front of the photo. I could not really do anything about the branch because the bridge was straight so I could not move away from the branch, which disappointed me.

Flavia_Waterfall

I took this photo today of the Charles River waterfall in Newton-Wellesley. I really like the angle to took the photo because usually you are looking at the waterfall from faraway and straight. I was on a bridge over the waterfall which made the angle different. In the photo I like how there is a sharp reflection of the sun. I also like how the water splashing is not as blurry as moving things are usually while taking photos. 

Duchaney_Quarters

I took this with my Canon PowerShot SX110IS on macro setting. I chose to put the Connecticut quarter on top because I really liked the intricate detail of the tree's branches. I wish the whole top of the qurter was in the clear focus rather than just the bottom half. I also think the shine was a little bright towards the top left.

I took this photo for my second term project. it was taken with the landscape setting and with the available light.

MacDougall_Plant

I took this photo a few weeks ago for the Styles Project. This is a plant in my kitchen window. I used the available light from the window and I believe this was taken in mid-to-late afternoon. I really like the bottom photo because I like all of the values. I think that the colors in the top photo are too dull so I think that the values from the black and white photo show the shadows much better. I also like the light on the right side and how the rays from the glare are visible. It makes it a lot more intriguing to look at. Especially since the leaves are slightly transparent and you can see the other leaves and petals behind it.

McGrath_Cross

I took this picture of the corner stone of Marian's convent a few weeks ago. It wasn't too sunny out, but I think that the picture looks better in lighting than it would have on a sunny day. I like that there are branches running over the bricks because it makes the picture more interesting. At first I only took a picture of the brick that read "1956", but I realized capturing the bricks at an angle would make it a much better picture.

Condon_Candle

I took this picture last night at a restaurant in Boston. It was a very dark room with just one candle on each table. I like this picture because the only light is the candle. Also, there are nice details in the candle wax & there is a nice reflection from the candle on the back of the jar. I took this with no flash.
